RUGENIA  ANDERSON

Elementary Counselor

As your school counselor, I am concerned and available to address the academic, social, behavior and emotional needs of each student. My days consist of individual and group counseling, parent teacher conferences, sending/receiving records and various student focused meetings. It is a joy to watch each student as they adjust, adapt and progress. I can't imagine doing anything else.

I attended Louisiana Tech University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, a Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a second Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I conducted psychological evaluations, taught character education classes and worked with at-risk youth. On weekends, I enjoy volunteering in the community. My passion is people, so I take time to serve others.

Did I mention that I am absolutely thrilled to be at Keithville???

Middle  School Counselor

Greetings! My name is Preston D. Edwards and I am the middle school counselor at KEMS.  I graduated from LSU-Shreveport with my Master’s degree in School Counseling in December of 2001 and I have had the privilege of working in this capacity since March of 2004.  I am proud to be a Keithville Eagle! In my spare time I love watching basketball (live and on television), spending time with my family, reading, and playing sports video games.

As the middle school counselor, my primary role is to aid in the academic, personal, and social development of the student body in grades 6-8.  With the 6th grade, it is the adjustment to class changes and the new freedoms that come with at that.  For the 7th and 8th graders, it is helping them prepare for the next level which is highs school.  Personal goal setting is more of the focus in these two grades.  I also work with students on test taking tips and preparedness for standardized testing.

Being a counselor, I am here to serve all student and parents.  If there is a need, please feel free to contact me about any concerns at (318) 925-1006 or via email at pdedwards@caddoschools.org.  I look forward to hearing from you and working with you towards the continued success and achievement of your child.
