Middle School Librarian

Both the Keithville Elementary and Middle School libraries are dynamic, academic learning centers.  Certified librarians Bridget Hall and Megan Leone are both veteran teachers with an eagerness to assist students and staff with research needs, book recommendations, or homework and assignment help.

The Elementary School Library is a vibrant, welcoming place for students to acquire a love for discovering literacy in their formative years.  During their weekly library visits, students will experience book talks, age-appropriate research lessons, and skills to help them in the classroom and beyond.

In the Middle School Library, students experience hands-on research lessons to prepare them for high school and beyond. Students participate in reading challenges to promote success in reaching Accelerated Reader goals and to encourage the love of reading for pleasure.  During lunch time, students can study, collaborate, or enjoy private reading and book browsing.

Online  Book  Catalog

Destiny Online Catalog is a one-stop webpage to see books, ebooks, and other materials in both libraries!  When you arrive at the Destiny homepage, choose the Keithville Elementary School link or Keithville Middle School link to open the library catalog webpage.  Our library homepage has lists of important links that you will find helpful.

Louisiana Young  ReaderS'  Choice Awards  Books

The Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award is a reading enrichment program of the Louisiana Center for the Book in the State Library of Louisiana. The purpose of the program is to foster a love of reading in the children of Louisiana by motivating them to participate in the recognition of outstanding books. The books that receive the most votes from the students are the Readers' Choice Award Winners. There are three levels of books grouped by age and interest level.

KEMS students in grades 3 - 8 are encouraged to read 3 or more titles from the LYRC lists below.  Students who pass the AR quizzes for those 3 titles will be invited to a special LYRC voting party held at the end of January!  We celebrate reading some great books and an opportunity to share in recognizing them across the state!
